At ACRES, we heat our greenhouses using geothermal energy. We pump warm water from two kilometers deep to heat our greenhouses. Renewable, clean, and virtually CO₂-free. Soon, we will heat almost all our greenhouses this way.

Geothermal energy is one of the most sustainable energy sources in existence. The water circulates in a closed system: after use, it flows back into the earth where it is reheated through natural processes. This heat ensures our tomatoes and cucumbers can grow in a stable climate, even during winter. Through this, we contribute to the climate goals for the Westland region and demonstrate that sustainable cultivation and innovation go hand in hand.

Currently, a significant portion of our energy needs is still met through our CHP units (Combined Heat and Power). Smart engines that generate both electricity and heat. The CO₂ released is directed to the plants. This way, we use energy efficiently and waste nothing.
