At ACRES, you can get started in greenhouse horticulture as a student. Whether you want to work during the summer break or just put in a few hours alongside school, there are various options available. You’ll work alongside other young people, stay active, and earn some nice pocket money along the way.
Working at ACRES as a High School Student
No experience is necessary to start working at ACRES. We’ll explain the job thoroughly, and experienced coworkers will help you get started. That way, you’ll learn step by step how things work in the greenhouse and gain valuable work experience right away.
What does your workday look like?
No two days are exactly the same. You start the day with your coworkers and find out what tasks are scheduled for the day.
Then you head into the greenhouse and roll up your sleeves. For example, you might be harvesting cucumbers and tomatoes, sorting them, or doing other tasks related to the plants.
Of course, there’s time for breaks in between to catch up with each other. This gives you a good sense of what’s involved in working in greenhouse horticulture.

When do you get that €50 bonus?
When your friend:
- signs up via acres.nl and provides your name;
- has worked at least 35 hours at ACRES within the first 3 months;
Salary
Your part-time job, your paycheck 💸
Your pay depends on your age. This hourly wage can be increased by an attendance bonus if you work at least 15 hours per month outside of vacation periods and at least 15 hours per week during a vacation week.
Would you like to work with us as a high school student? If so, we ask that you be available at least three Saturdays a month throughout the year.
